University of Dundee

Dundee Law School has a long tradition of welcoming Canadian students to study on our English Law LLB programs. And we have lots of experience in guiding our students when navigating the requirements of the NCA.

On the east coast of Scotland Dundee is one hour north of Edinburgh and is situated on the River Tay. The university campus is in the heart of the city, minutes from the shopping malls, river fron and train station. Ranked in the top 20 universities in the UK by the Guardian 2021. Dundee is also ranked 2nd safest city in Scotland by the Complete University Guide 2021.

Step outside the campus and students are within walking distance of great restaurants, cafés, bars, shops, museums including Scotland’s design museum -  the V&A as well as art galleries, theatres, cinemas, sports centres, stunning scenery and more. North of Dundee are the Highlands whilst St Andrews and Edinburgh are to the south. All of Scotland’s historic sites are within easy reach and Glasgow and Edinburgh are just a 1 hour train journey away.

The city centre campus is home to student facilities that are within easy walking distance and on-campus student accommodation; the Enquiry Centre, Students’ Association, gym and main library are all just a few minutes apart. This helps to create a strong community feel within the campus and contributes towards a friendly atmosphere.

The Institute of Sport and Exercise (ISE) has a range of facilities available including two-exercise studios, three glass-backed competition standard squash courts, a designated strength performance centre, a specialised dance/indoor studio, a 25m swimming pool with sauna, floodlit all-weather tennis courts and two large indoor sports halls. There’s a range of 40+ sports clubs and over 190 student societies.

The main-library, including the Law Library, offers students on-campus access to the information and support that can help throughout their legal studies. This includes face-to-face help from professional library staff and long opening hours throughout the semester (including 24-hour access during exams). There’s also a range of learning spaces and access to 322 PC’s. For law students there is a dedicated Law library. Students also benefit from the university’s high-speed WIFI and extensive electronic resources including e-books, e-journals and image and sound resources from across the world.

Whilst studying, there is a range of services available to Dundee students, including counselling and student support. What’s more, the careers service offers lifetime support to all Dundee graduates as well.

All university accommodation is self-catering, single bedrooms with en-suite shower and toilet. There is a variety of accommodation sites on the campus with kitchen and dining space within cluster flats. All students can access laundry facilities, bicycle storage and all accommodation has superfast wired and WIFI internet as well as connection to Freeview or Freesat TV. The weekly accommodation costs include utility bills. There is also plentiful private accommodation in the neighbourhood, next to the campus, which is popular with graduate students in particular.

The University of Dundee was founded in 1881 and became a college of St Andrews University in 1897. In 1967 it became an independent university.

The courses were really interesting

I decided to come here because I liked that the class sizes were a lot smaller than other universities for law which I find is a better learning environment for myself.
