City, University of London traces its origins back to 1894 and gained university status in 1966. It is a global university committed to academic excellence with a focus on business and the professions and a member institution of the University of London.

Located in London, the world’s best city for university students (QS World University Rankings 2019), City has an enviable central location, being close to the City of London (the financial district) and only a short bus ride from the theatres and shops of the West End.

City attracts nearly 20,000 students from around 160 countries. The University is ranked 11th in the UK for highest graduate starting salaries by The Times and The Sunday Times Good Universities Guide 2020.

City offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, has close contacts with leading professional institutions and businesses worldwide and more than two-thirds of its courses are recognized by relevant professional bodies. Many courses include an optional internship with leading international companies.

The City Law School

The City Law School is one of London's major law schools offering an impressive range of academic and professional courses. As one of the first law schools in London to educate students and practitioners at all stages of legal education, this world renowned law school offers courses suitable for everyone interested in following a career in law.

The School incorporates the former Inns of Court School of Law (ICSL) - the original provider of bar training. The name Inns of Court School of Law was discontinued in 2008 when the School simply became The City Law School to reflect the breadth of academic, graduate and professional education that they provide.

The City Law School is part of City, University of London; a leading international University and the only university in London to be both committed to academic excellence and focused on business and the professions.

As an independent member institution of the University of London, City students benefit from a diverse student body, access to careers advice and guidance as well as learning resources at City, and the other University of London institutes.

Facilities

City boasts extensive library facilities with a collection of over 250,000 volumes, together with over 50,000 titles that can be accessed electronically on and off campus.

Cutting-edge technologies, 24-hour IT support via telephone and widely available Wi-Fi access ensure students enjoy excellent connectivity. City provides over 1,000 PCs, 200 Apple Macs and 57 Linux workstations, located in accessible areas around the campus, with 24-hour access for specific areas.

The team of international student advisors can provide guidance on applying for a visa to study in the UK. They also provide comprehensive advice on everything from setting up a bank account to registering with a doctor. The Student Centre can also help with queries relating to finance, including details of scholarships for international students and loan schemes for students from Canada and the United States.

In 2015 City opened CitySport, a brand new sports and fitness center, offering a very different experience from traditional gym chains. It has over 120 fitness stations including the latest cardiovascular and resistance equipment and an extensive range of free weights catering for all training facilities. Its Olympic-standard sports hall provides space for team and solo sports such as football, badminton, basketball and volleyball. The membership fee is discounted for City students.

The Students’ Union aim to put fun into university life without breaking the bank. They have a wide range of student clubs and societies and regularly organise events such as end-of-term parties, open mic nights and various others.

All international first-year undergraduate students are guaranteed a place in the university’s halls of residence. Graduate students can apply for rooms in dedicated graduate halls of residence and priority is given to international students. There is a range of choices available from self-contained studio flats to options with shared kitchens. Most of the accommodation is within a very short walk of the main university campus.
