CLFA Web Meetings

The CLFA team of advisors are eager to meet with our university representatives in an online forum to learn more about what our partner institutions offer students and how to keep our working relationship strong and productive. What are your latest innovations or admissions procedures? Do you have a new course we need to know about? Are you a new partner with CLFA?

We have reserved space in our calendar for web meetings for these very reasons. We would love to engage with you to learn more about your progress.

These web meetings help to keep you on our radar, so we are sure to have you in mind when we interact with students. We particularly want to learn new information we would not normally or easily find on your website, despite the fact that we visit your website quite frequently.

What to prepare

Here are some suggestions as you prepare for your session with us:

  • Prepare to have a 45-minute meeting, which will encompass a 20 to 30-minute presentation and 15 minutes of Q&A.
  • All CLFA advisers have studied at least a full degree  in the UK. We already have general information on studies in the UK and are personally aware of why we think every Canadian should study in the UK.  Any info you provided should go beyond these elements. (For example, we already know your rankings, genera law degree structure, and UK student unions offer everyone the chance to dabble in just about anything)
  • Be memorable!  What can you share that we could not easily find on your website? Such information is of immense value to us.
  • To present a specific course or department, please consider the following:
    - How do you distinguish yourselves from other UK law schools with the same/similar department portfolio?  What are your USPs?  Why should a student choose you?
    - Entry requirements: updates to your previously noted entry requirements or concerns with recent applications.

We know this might seem like a lot to ask, so please regard the above as suggestions for ways these web meetings have “packed a punch” in the past. We want our sessions to be worth everyone’s time, and let’s be honest, no one likes boring meetings! Plus, this is a great way to put faces behind the names we read in emails.

You may also wish to feedback on overall strategy, recommended activity and ways to tackle the boundless potential of the Canadian market. Mark is more than happy to set up a separate session about those topics.

 ONLINE MEETING LOGISTICS

  • In practical terms, you will simply need to click on the link that will be provided, 10-15 minutes before our scheduled time in case any software needs to be downloaded.
  • Be sure to have a PC or Mac available with a webcam and headset, if possible, for improved sound/visuals.

WHAT TO EXPECT

To improve the quality of the call, we will only turn on our webcams when we speak and will mute ourselves during the presentation.

The typical agenda includes:

  • Introductions from the advisors – who and where we are and what we studied in the UK
  • Introduction from you
  • Your presentation – we can share your screen as you go through your presentation
  • Q and A
